Thread Starter | Another pickup/Amp question
Hi guys, I need to amplify my harp, any info on great Pickups would be useful, and i need a good amp. Has anybody used a Shertler Amp before? www.schertlerusa.com The thing is i dont really want to be buying then upgrading buying then upgrading, $900 for an amp is fine, as long as it will serve me well. And you know a few hundred for a pickup isnt so bad, i want to record it at some point when i get better at playing. So any advice would be great. Its body is its resonator, im pretty good with oscilators and 24db filters and mod matrix's, but im clueless when it comes to acoustic. All i know is when i press my ear on it it sounds amazing and i would like to make it louder as clean and natural as possible, the spring reverb on the schertler amp cant hurt either! Its their David amp im looking at but they also make pickups, no idea about prices for those yet ill have to do some looking. Thanks alot guys! |

Yeah its funny you bring that up, thats where i saw the amp, i was going to buy one of their harps before i decided to get a 10 string. I think their pick-up is made for their harps i dont think i can set it up on my harp. Thanks for your help though |

Is this for playing live or recording? Either way, I'd prefer to mic it, as pickups just fail to sound good on acoustic instruments. If it must be a pickup, I'd consider the inexpensive Dean Markley Artist transducer with the tacky stuff on it that just sticks onto the instrument. I've used that live for nylon string guitar and it works fine. If you really want "high end," consider getting a small condenser mic permanently installed. |

Hi scrubs thanks, it is more for recording than it is live, but id also like to use it live sometimes, i think you might right about using a mic instead of a pick-up, ill probably get a mic for recording and a cheap pickup if i ever need to amplify it. I dont know why i didnt think of that.... I like the idea of having a small mic permanently attached so i can just un plug it when i dont need to amplify or record it. Rather than setting it up all the time On my next picture you can see the back, ive tried with my computer headset mic and this is where the harp sounds its best, its perfect i just need to set up a mic in there somehow |
