Wow thanks for the replies.
Re: the kick. Its the orginal kick hit not a sample. BUT... a sample Kick was mixed in with the original.. very very low, just to give the main kick a little more slap and consistency.
The drummer was pretty consistent in his kick hits, I was amazed at this actually.
He had a beautiful kit. Mapex with a wood rimmed snare. Wood beaters...
Re: The Guitar being "phasey" No phase just flange.... lol just kidding.
Well here's the deal with tracking that guitar. The way I mixed it was a concern, but I thought it sounded cool and BIG.
MesaBoogie Tripple Rectifier.
In one Marshall 4x12 Cab I have 3 celetion G12T-75s and one Vintage30.
The Vintage 30 and one G12T-75 are at the top.
I miced the G12T-75 with a Sm57 (in the mix ended up being panned left)
and the Vintage 30 with a BeyerM88. (in the mix ended up panned to the right)
When It came to the mix I flipped the polarity/phase on the the track with the m88.
Kinda cool, left a big whole in the middle for the drums and bass while leaving the GTR pretty big.
BUT.. I did feel it pulling me from one speaker to the other.
Please advise on this as it was one of my main concerns.
thanks everyone!
