Manning: thanks for asking, but I'm not having any DAW issues. I've been running my Athlon +2400 machine for about three years. It is doing me fine and I do mixes of sometimes 40-50 tracks in Vegas with a UAD-1. The Celeron is just my old laptop which I used as secondary test for Reaper. BTW it also works great with Vegas.
When I tested Reaper, I took a Vegas project I was working on and saved as an EDL. Then I opened it and played it in Reaper to test it, and did the same in Vegas. Reaper used 30-50% more CPU to play the project. I know I've heard many people have the opposite effect, but I can only tell you what happens here, and on two different machines. My latest test was with v 1.32.
BTW, I've been following and trying Reaper since very early in the development (March). I've brought this up to Justin, Pipeline, and the forum and came up blank. I'd love to give Reaper a real run, but until I get a more powerful machine it ain't gonna happen.
