I´m probably one of the biggest lurkers out there, but it´s really hard to post, since i spend all time reading.
I want to take the chance to be thankful, you cant imagine how much I´ve learned
here.
I will give my modest contribute more often.
So i will start to talk about myself :
my name is Pedro Moreira, 28 years old, musician since 14, I live in Portugal, beautifull small country, lots of bands but almost impossible to make a living or having a carrer in the music biz. but i am crazy and since very young I have dedicated all my time to learn music, as musician i am mainly a drummer but i extended my education to other instruments like, piano, bass and guitar. I studied Architecture for 7 years and gave up on the last year to join the sound engineering school in Lisbon. I finished the degree last year. Now my main occupation is architecture, and all the money and spare time goes to the my studio and to my education on the art of recording.
And the money is a big problem, here in Portugal the gear costs the same as in the UK or US, but the minimum wage is about 370 Eur.
So here we must by completely nuts to be gearsluts, So we have to work a lot and spend money wisely to achieve great results without top gear.
Also we dont have big or top studios to get in. But as i said there´s many bands and they want to record so...
I am building the studio myself in a countryside house ( putting both architecture & Sound knowlegde in practice ) at the end of every day, after work, I go there to
construct a little more. the rest of the time i spend recording, playing, reading manuals, studying a lot and of course reading Gearslutz threads.
wow... I almost forgot I also have a personal life somewere
HEHE I have writhing enough for two months
Once again, many thanks to you all, you make me forget i live and work in such a tiny place, thanks for giving me a glimps of the real deal.
