I would say the Portico range, which I tested, sounds a bit more SSLish clean! Not in a bad way of course, but if you want that little fatness in the depper midfrequencies the AMS tools are the ones to get!
Try these Pres with a MPC! They give real character to that drumboxes! Like the cream on your cake or a strawberry in your glass of champagne!
