New Music Video

Please take a gander, some film school students did this for us as part of a class, so we're pretty tickled over just having a video made.

Editing was done in Final Cut Pro, camcorder was a Sony VX1000, music was mixed in my studio, using SX3 and hardware. The recording studio is not our facility, its one of the rooms at Newhouse School of Communication at Syracuse University (SU), this is also where the film students came from.

Little notes. The scenes with a mike, had no mike. The studio guys like any studio guy should, locked up the mikes and didn't bother to let us hooligans mug for the camera with their expensive gear (I dont blame them!!). So we made a mike with a windscreen, a shock mount, popper stopper and a mic stand. (Look closely).

The live room in that studio was nice, kind of like an old school vibe. The gear was NICE.....An old Eventide Harmonizer from the 70s, some 1176s, an LA type (I cant remember) piece, a whole bunch of dbx compressors, an Orban eq...2 Reel to Reel machines, one by Sony (multitrack), the other by Tascam (2 track). Yamaha board was a BITCH to operate at first. It was a DM something (a Dm2000) and it had a nice way of making me look dumb. Considering I never worked on digital boards before, I actually got it up and running once I read thru the manual.

Truth be told the reason we needed the board to be up was because we had Mac speakers to use as sound for our sync and meanwhile the studio had KRKs and JBLs on the ceiling, so if we could get the DM2000 up we were good.

I actually had to use Pro Tools for the first time in 6 years for playback thru the DM2000, which was easier than I remembered. We got things up and thats how we had sync for editing.

First music video for the group, first time using a Dolly, second time working with SU grads, love it love it. Yes its shot on video tape and You tube murdered it believe me full quality is immaculate (480p).

Anyways enjoy or dont, please leave some feedback, its our first video and we were exhausted half the time shooting this stuff. Bedroom scene with my hair out was the first day of shooting. Greenscreen room (video end) was controversial. We got kicked out so we couldn't finish without any pressure. Guy was a ****in asshole and I told him to mind his own business, he didn't like that ( I wouldn't either). If anything this is one more notch on the belt and experience that will go a long way.

Next video, I want at least one crane shot hahaha.
Shout outs to the Director Divas of this project. Prianka, Shannon and Gina (we owe you much and love ya lots)
Peace
Illumination
