Put up a hat mic if it's reggae or some other kind of carribean music as this is where most of the rhythm is for this music. It's more important how you place it than what type of mic it is, not counting ignorant extremes. Late 80's soul/pop is full of double hat O/Ds over drum machines, it's all about who's playing them
