I don't really know offhand - did the mic go out completely or is it making any noise at all? Someone over at Prosound Web mentioned that Neumann's repair costs were $35 for a quote plus shipping both ways and then $80/hour for repair but I have not had experience with repairing the mics. The audio school I attend has several of them, so I've used them - never had to deal with maintanance, etc. Give Neumann a call and talk to them they should be able to give you more info. Either way it should be less than the $1500 you were budgeting for a new rig, and you may have enough left over to still get another preamp or compressor. Good luck!
