| I have an Auratone 5C "Soundcube" [which is hooked up to a McIntosh MC-100 amplifier] that sits in the middle of my meter bridge which is almost always used in mono. For me, it's the best tool I have to make sure the balances are right... I've also had a more full range speaker I've used in mono in the back of the room on occasion [an Altec 604/D in an old Altec "Utility" cabinet].
These days the Altecs serve as both the 'shop speakers' as well as the "Studio Listen Speaker" system so I don't have them in the CR anymore... but there are some days when one of them is brought down from their perch and put in the back of the room.
In my world 'mono compatibility' is still of paramount importance as it helps things translate in cars and off the TV better.... whether or not that is of any importance to your world is for you to say... but in my world its pretty important.
Peace.
