ive seen this problem before.
might or might not apply in your case.
but are you sure you have your sound device .
control panel set up correctly ??
(look in your manual that came with the sound device.)
also please post back your signal chain AFTER the stereo output of the sound
device.....ie....whats the output monitoring chain ??
you havent given a ton of info on your set up thus difficult to comment further.
its possible your friend sold to you in good faith but the sound device isnt configged properly(via its control panel...lots of folks often forget to config the sound device control panel properly..) OR its a setting in cubase OR something on the output side.
those are the areas i would look at.
difficult without being there.

asio4all works with it. thus you might try the asio4all driver.
