I have 2 CIBs. I know that they are different, but I dont know how much different.

I've never used the 9098's but I love my CIBs (especially the EQ's) so much that I wouldn't mind another pair. (Though I need to pick up some "thicker" stuff first ala NEVE/API).

Must be a pretty big difference between the 9098 stuff and the CIB, judging by the comments about the 9098 stuff.
Well, dunno if I can set any records straight from my experience, as I've never directly A/B'ed them... nor have I reached yet for the 9098 on anything like a lead vocal (of which I've done many on the CIB). But if I had to characterize them on my limited experience with the 9098, I'd say it was thinner than the CIB. And the EQ not as flexible or warm. And no compressor (which is really quite nice on the CIB, imo) Kind of boring compared to the relative robustness of the CIB. Due to its filter and hishelf, though, it often gets used by me... on hat! Killer for that... The 9098 has also worked well recently on Irish fiddle. Again, a bit on the thin side.

For most basics tracking, my two CIB's go on kick and snare. Love them for their ability to sculpt.
