Who Over-compressed The Kook's Inside In Inside Out?

I just got this CD at the recommendation of a teenage girl on Youtube (who goes by the name of jinxyjo)--so I'm not particularly surprised, but I'm still appalled by how smashed most of it is. It's not classic music, maybe, but I think it would have sounded alright if it hadn't been so brutally and unnecessarily compressed. I don't mean to offend anyone--it's just my taste.

Anybody involved with this CD who would defend or lament it here? Brian "Big Bass" Gardner at Bernie Grundman Mastering; mix engineer, Michael Brauer?
