Second That: I really dig the 414XLS too. It has won a few mic shootouts on make vocs at my place, even over Silver EB's and Old Neumanns...
No no's for me: Not a huge Genelec fan...though those older ribbon loaded S30s were pretty awesome.
Wasnt nuts about the dbx160VU...yeah, I know. Kooster likes em...maybe the pair I had needed service. I generally love dbx stuff (less the 266) for what it does.
Avalon 737 didnt knock me out...sent three back. The mastering EQ is outstanding however.
Pro Tools - havent heard HD in person...
Waves L1 and Waves Dither.
Never liked ADAT, ever.
Audix anything. oooo the pain.
Sony 2" eeeeeeeewwwwww
Studer CD players.

I haven't had too many other condensers but the AKG's beat my old AT4040's which were a little more agressive and more noisy, my old Rode NT1A, which was maybe a tad less noisy but far less musical, and my TLM 103, which I HATED, just like everyone else. |
