That recent RealWorldRemixed contest where they let people remix Peter Gabriel's "Shock The Monkey" is a case in point - if you download the tracks, which is worth doing just to hear what the tracks on a Big Hit sound like, you can hear that Gabriel's lead vocal track has TONS of noise in it....like he was sitting by a generator or something. I guess they fixed it in the mix!
