I gotta say the P1 is almost always my 1st choice on acoustic guitars....but it takes some experimenting to find which mic to use with what guitar...
A dreadnaught requires (IMO) a different mic and positioning scheme than an Auditorium sized, classical, or whatnot. Try some SDCs like AT4041, C42, whatever...the P1 with a ribbon is to die for.... for the traditionalist sound, our Michael Joly modded Oktava 319 is almost perfect...several keeper tracks for some scoring work and a couple of country blues projects have been done this way...
and yes, a tube mic (ours is a Peluso 2247) with the P1 pad engaged is mighty powerful....
