Seriously, if the guy has great contacts and you're making some scratch, I'd suck it up. If you hate "going back to the drawing-board," then get him what he wants in the first place. Work other angles for your pop stuff but don't blow this guy off.
That's what I'd do....or I'd tell him to suck it.
