I quite often do this....
Duplicate the kick track.
Using the Digi III EQ.
Track 1 gets a low pass filter just a touch above 60Hz, with a 12dB/octave slope.
Track 2 gets a high pass filter around 1.5 or 2k, with a 6dB/octave slope.
YMMV substantially.
