This plus the real winners have lyrics or story that the masses can relate to. Jt cry me a river ..yeh we can all relate to that chick who.screwed us and now we feeling good about it etc .. from the song perspective.
The music and beat just need to emphasise with a level of musicality the emotion of the track. They should work together..
Then there is format based pop music. Almost impossible to answer this question. What I'm getting at is it needs to make you feel good.
On the live stuff I have been involved in the most well received tracks fit this criteria simple or not.
