mics ive used for vocals
SM58 - too bassy and muddy
sm57 - same as above plus more nasal sicne i used it off axis
re20 - really nice accurate natural sound but too airy for my taste and a lil buzzy
re27 - very crisp and sharp i lvoed it but had a sound to it that i did not like at all
re320 - same as re27 a weird hollow metal bass sound. scoop switch sucks extra bassy too
nd767a - fell in love with this mic. its very plosive though and nasal off axis.
never tried an md441 or sm7b. those are probably the only 2 dynamics left on my list that i wanna try but i figured sm7b would be fairly similar to my nd767a with bass roll off switch and presence boost. i wish i had its pop filter though. im sure nd767a is good enough so i dont need to get a sm7b right now but id try it none the less. i def feel like im probablym issing out. i really wanted a md441 for a while but i dont wanna buy a used one. i have had way too many problems with used mics in the past. i heard the 441 needs a lot of gain too. and for 900 dollars screw it im ok with my nd767a and sennheiser mk4 for now.
