Thanks for taking the time to listen pinkheadedbug and Frank, I appreciate the feedback. I think you're right I shouldn't judge by songwriting comp results, but it is useful to get feedback that isn't from the people that come to my gigs around here and that are predisposed to like me I guess.
I suppose being a singer myself I do write for myself which has good and bad aspects. I might try and see if I can write a song with someone else in mind, just as an exercise to see what comes out.
I do have lots of other songs that are more about the lyrics, like this one:
'Round' is a song I don't usually play in pubs, it's about trying to recreate a mood, a beatiful, tranquil moment but that still had this longing in it. I guess it's more a visceral song where the space in between the lyrics is almost more important than the lyrics themselves.
Thanks for introducing me to Julie Miller, I really enjoyed that song and her voice!
