You identified your exact problem right off the bat.
You stated that you are mixing "to your taste". And that you are making your mixes sound better (to you) on your monitors.
To me, this indicates that you have not yet actually learned your monitors, or monitoring environment. You are assuming that making something sound "better" on your monitors will actually translate to the real world. This is not always the case, especially with low end monitors that are actually more hi-fi than accurate. You have to learn how your monitors sound and embrace this sound. Listen through them instead of at them when you are mixing.
