After reading a lot of posts over the years I decided to join and thank everyone. I'm new so hopefully I'm posting in the right place. I just picked a Great River pre and it's amazing. I'm running a Studio Projects C1 and a Stellar CM6 into it. Then I'm going into the Avalon 737sp's line in to bypass the preamp. I'm very happy with the sound and can't believe it didn't do it years ago.

I also sold my u87ai and don't miss it at all!

I record mainly hip hop vocals and for me the chain sounds great. I guess maybe my next step would be to try out a different compressor who knows.
