They should sound familiar in eq, but way more detailed. Great records that you like the sound of should sound great. Bad sounding records that you don't like the sound of should sound extra bad. If a record you don't like the sound of sounds good on a speaker you're listening to, that's not a good monitor for you. Bring a reference cd with you that has material you are very familiar with, both good and bad sounding. Bright records, muddy records, bass heavy records. If they don't sound like that and make everything sound good, or opposite of what they should, then those aren't good for you.
