For me it was fairly straightforward.
I'm a guitar-based producer, don't play keyboards very well, but a good buddy is an amazing keyboardist. So I asked him to join the team, and he did.
I had a client who has a scary grasp of music theory (mine is somewhat shaky), coupled with an outstanding ability to play rhythm guitar and sing. So I put her on the team.
My brother Kurt is a guitar tech to platinum selling bands like Godsmack, and I produce a lot of guitar-based music, so that one was a no-brainer. TEAM.
More recently, I became friends with a fantastic recording engineer at one of Philly's best recording studios...and guess what? TEAM!
Then, there's my lawyer/manager, whom I've known for over a decade. He watches my back.
I don't need them all for every gig. They have other gigs, we're not tied together by contractual obligations. Everything's done on a handshake, and I pay them per-session.
BUT potential clients can look at my team on the Curve website, and see that we've got all the potential bases covered.
Team is everything. I would not dare try to go it alone in this business.
