Sorry that this is more of a low end question, but I don't trust getting accurate answers from the folks that lurk in the other forums...

Has anyone that actually owns or is very familiar with any of the many incarnations of the C-414 tried a C-214? I'm recommending one for a friend who likes how my 414TL-II sounds, but all I'm able to find is people who have used one or the other, but not both. I'm also seeing folks say that it's technically more like a C3000, which I'm not a fan of. I'm concerned with sound, I'm not concerned with pissing matches about how 414s suck, or what multitude of other mics would be better, straight answers from someone who's familiar with 414's and used a 214 please!!!

Primarily going to be used for vocals but if you've recorded 1000 acc gtrs with a 414 and tried a 214 that's just as good to me.
