Have you listened to a live recording of your church performances? This would be a good way to judge how the sounds you're using now are fitting into the overall mix. In other words, you may be overthinking the situation. I see that in the studio all the time. The guitar player wants this big, beefy sound that doesn't work in the mix because it takes up too much space, but the guitar player isn't listening to the mix, he's listening to just his guitar.
