I think internet forums in general attract a lot of left brained semi-autistics that are really interested in the facts and details, sometimes devolving into meme parroting or being a real asshole without knowing it. Sometimes it's good info or funny...I dunno, the contrast even in this thead is neat. Take it for what it is or go on a vacation (from the internet) and play shows.

And hey, some of the posters are genuinely helpful too!

I find DIY and modular synth forums have a greater ratio of playfulness and creativity, but you get even more obsessive hoarding types! 6 of one half dozen of another. People be crazy yo.

Smaller forums or places where people use their real names more often than not are still around too.
BWAH..!!!
instead of a bathroom stall I'd say petrie dish.
the bigger it is, and if not over-controlled by moderation, the more interesting unexpected outcomes it can have.
of course you have to look for those, with an open mind.
if you go in with a fixed set of expectations, that may be overexerted, because you've referenced from your own thoughts, you'll find a very confusing place, some would EVEN resemble it to a bathroom stall.

you see... it's those fora that are small and focussed, those are the ones that often screw off their thread, because of revisiting the same subject over and over again.

it's like music. no dissonance, no tension, no innovation. too much dissonance: a presumptious mess.
