I hear what you say about the kick drum. I had to shelf below 100Hz and gate because the drum is a 24" with an unported reso. The reso has a felt strip to cut some of the unwanted ring but as you can hear, there's still plenty of it. Maybe next time, I'll put some more air between the head and the E602 and include some multiband compression to tame the sub on the mix.

This was a dry run before going in again committing some drum parts to a few projects I'm involved in. As the projects run from Jazz through to Rock, I had to be sure everything was working well as full tilt; hence the heavy drums.

I've got say the R16 is a dream to work with and once everything is set to go, you can pretty much do the 'tape op' and performing in one.
