It is a bit less noisy, the makeup gain on the 100 is more robust and rich. I imagine it has something to do with the Jensen 990 opamp. The meter is more accurate and you could do this with either but swappin the chinese tube out for somethin NOS gets rid of the hiss heard at high gains as well as generally more pleasing harmonics.
They're both great tracking compressors though.
