Thanks for the replies. Let me clarify my thoughts a bit. First, I am an engineer/producer, so I would be starting my studio as the engineer. Wherever I would go I would work a job to get by while I built my studio. The plan would be to build small, most likely in my home, but do it right. I wouldn't take out some fancy business loan and build a big commercial studio. That would be foolish. Again, I would start small, but take it seriously by taking on projects for free to start, or at least cheaper than the competition to build my reputation. You know, do what any small business would do. Hand out biz cards, promote your website, build a great demo reel, make friends. I posted because I am interested if anyone with experience an an engineer/producer moved to Nashville thinking they could do the same thing, start small and build from there, but found out the market was even more flooded than they might have thought. I also know every person/situation is different and there is no definite answer, but I am interested in opinions from people with experience. Thanks!
