(the obvious) TR-909

Minus the 909, that was Roland's original lineup of separate MIDI sound modules and keyboards.

If Roland is not an option, I'm going with the Oberheim System:

OB-Xa, OB-8, or late-rev OB-X with Computer Interface
DSX
DMX
Xpander (for CV/Gate outputs of DSX)
Prommer (to make new sounds for DMX)
