Remember though, if you use pitchshifting you're likely to introduce bad artifacts into the sound, however good the algorithm you use is. Also, instruments like trumpets don't sound exactly the same whatever note you play, so simply pitchshifting won't give you a realistic sounding sample instrument. Far better to multisample (take multiple samples of the trumpet at different pitches).
