Replacing Soundcraft ribbon cable

Now that I'm scrutinizing and modding my Soundcraft 800B, I noticed there's a bad spot in one of the ribbon cables--creates noise at the outputs when I flex the cable.

It looks like maybe the connector snaps open somehow, but maybe someone can point me to a good set of instructions so I don't risk breaking it ? I just finished soldering a bunch of links to the transition board as a ground mod, so I'm really hoping it's possible to replace the ribbon without desoldering all the pins on the bottom of the board it's connected to ?

Also, any suggestions on good brands as an upgrade ? Anyone had any luck replacing these ribbons with something shielded ?

Thanks for any advice!
