I recently made a bunch of beats on Ableton Live and exported them to a CD. The music was not as loud as the CD's by the pro's. I asked the guy at Guitar Center and he said that they would sound better if I exported them from Pro Tools. Does this have to do with the Bit Depth settings on the export or is it something else? What bit depth should I use when making CD's? If it's something else please help me. The songs seemed to be a lot better quality before the export.
Few things to consider here:
1.) Did you listen on the same system?
2.) Did you export 16Bit 44.1 kHz wave files?
3.) Did you activate dither?
4.) The Loudness thing that you are talking about has to do with the fact that they where mixed and mastered and assuming from your questions you're probly not doing that either... And if you do your not good at it for now which is perfectly normal!
Mixing and Mastering is easy after the first 10.000 hours you do it
