Jay,
The SDD2000 was the sampling version, right?
I had a bunch of them. I used them as a cheap sampler, triggering drums samples live in the early days. I would sample the toms & snare during sound check and use the samples during the show. It wasn't perfect but it worked as a quick fix if necessary.
I also had the SDD3000. They didn't have a lot of top end but they had there place at one time. Nothing EQ couldn't fix.
