Microphones don't have a brain to "tune out" things you don't want to hear. If the acoustics of a room really ARE that great, it will make a fine sounding recording. How many symphonies have produced wonderful sounding recordings in wonderful sounding concert halls? An interesting space might sound great in a concert because you've convinced yourself that it sounds great. Microphones can't be convinced of anything. An honest mic will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. If the truth isn't as pretty as it seemed, then maybe it wasn't so pretty to begin with.
