I like Robert, and I kinda got a kick out of him moving from the studio to the live side back when he did it, because he likes a lot of control. Other acts who have used him live had to remove their amps from the stage and use these rolling speaker iso boxes backstage so that he had total control of the stage sound. Obviously that would not fly with Tom Petty. On the other hand, Robert finally got Petty to give up the 57 and move to a better sounding vocal mic.

But this still skips my question about the mics. Most mics do not sound the same (or good) when the pattern is changed like that. Do we know what mics are being used here?
