So I'm trying to get my band started up with a demo, then gigs. I however have not settled on a name.
I'm trying to do something different, so if I had to put it in a genre it would be indie rock. Elements from baroque/classical/chamber rock, folk music, and prog rock. Most of it's pretty dynamic, even the harder songs have soft sections, and a lot of the lyrics are somewhat conceptual. It's currently only me singing and playing acoustic with a drummer, but I'm planning to add some instruments as soon as I find some real musicians (lol, everybody "rocks" at guitar these days).
I personally really like the name "Cowboys and Indians". There's a private joke somewhere in there because I'm from the sticks, and my drummer is Indian (not Native American). Everytime I try to discuss it with him he tells me "Dude I don't give a shit, I just want to play drums" So, instead I will discuss it with you. I like the name because it represents contrast and nostalgia, and it still sounds like the quirky indie rock names people use. There are some other reasons, but that's the gist.
Anybody see why that shouldn't be the name? I'm a little afraid people will think it's racist or something. Maybe I'm overthinking it...
