You are correct. The info i posted above about the 2N3442 being equivalent i got from an old catalog of Baneasa Electronic Romania (1984, that makes it older than i am), where it says that 2N3442 that failed breakdown voltage testing at 140v are to be rebadged as 2N3055H. That's why the normal 2N3055 was a 60v Vce part, while the -H would do 100v.
