| Ah. I don't think those are maple. The Renown kits have wood hoops on the bass drums, and never have wrapped finishes. I know for certain that that is probaly circa 2002ish (thats when they started using that bass drum mount for the toms). Before then they shipped them without mounts on the bass drum, but then dealers started requesting them. All the other import kits (non renown) are mahogany I believe.
The mahogany shells still sound killer though. |
