Great post Joeq and I'd agree with much of what you say there. However there's a few left cos they simply couldn't take any form of critique of their work based solely on the fact it has sold by the shed load. With the greatest of respect how many thread mention the Osmonds or The Partridge family from the 70s and then how many ask about bands like Can?
Nick Drake sold less than 20,000 albums in his lifetime, in total, who do you think is the more influential several decades on Nick Drake or The Bay City Rollers?
You know, the question everyone seems to want to ask but dare not is this.. Why do some people spend so much time and fabulous outboard working on technically brilliant mixes that are, in the final analysis, bloody painful and boring to listen to after more than 10 minutes?
