I am looking to spend about $700-$800 on monitors.

From what I have read, the JBL lsr2325p sound like they would be great monitors for my price range/experience. I used to think about getting KRKs, but it was more for the 'cult status' than anything else. I am basically sold on the JBLs now.

What I am curious about is whether I should buy two 8" monitors or two 5" monitors and a subwoofer.

My room will be treated by the time I buy these monitors, so controlling low-end shouldn't be as much as a problem as just hearing it.

I produce mostly hip-hop and low-end is really important to me. The room I will be working in is a medium sized room (about 12 x 20 feet) with carpeted floors. It will have sufficient bass trapping.
