creating a rising cutoff frequency effect on bass guitar

ok, so - im trying to experiment with new sounds most people wouldnt have tried - literally been thinking of something that hasnt been tryed before but could most likely be done - while sounding good at the same time

so i came up with the idea of the progressive/electro house cutoff effect, but on bass guitar.... see link for sound. the sound is mostly used in Calvin Harris and deadmau5 tracks, as well as some other producers.

Deadmau5 chords Jaded / Strobe and some i made myself! Fruity Loops! By Ziggy Stardust - YouTube

thats the sound.

I know that bass guitar is sine wave and the effect can only be done on sawtooth waveforms [correct me if im wrong] so i would need a waveshaper.

but what pedals/vsts/anything that would make it work, would i need. What would you do?

P.S i dont want the exact synth just the effect, i still want the sound of the bass guitar. thanks in advance.
