It is easily the best route you can go if you can't mic up cabs at full volume. They are pricey because they simply are the most flexible modelers on the planet. You can literally change EVERYTHING about the sound, but that also means you will spend a lot of time tweaking. If you are more concerned about turning a few knobs and finding a great sound as fast as you could with a real amp, the Eleven Rack might be a better route to go, and for considerably less money. I personally use an Eleven Rack and the sounds I get are ridiculously good, and the re-amping feature is very nice. I do believe the Axe-fx is more flexible, and definitely has an incredible sound, but I no longer have any desire to mic up amps after switching to the Eleven Rack.
