Work with a dealer that will let you buy and try, with a reasonable return policy. Tell them what TONAL CHARACTERISTICS you're after, and make a list with them of which mics to try. Then buy the one that works best for you.
Best advice I've read yet... you should take a good amount of time with anything you're thinking of adopting 5-6 weeks... run a bunch of sessions, get used to the piece and decide if its really making your world a happier place after the "honeymoon" period wears off.
