| Melodyne and Auto-tune
Hi
Just my experience:
I have been using Melodyne 2.6 for the last year. I´ve used it on many albums. But there are some things that have been bothering me about it.
It doesn´t always detect the notes right. And then it becomes very hard to pitch them. Besides, it introduces artifacts, clicks, when it tries to play the wrongly detected notes. So often I have had to copy from the original take unaltered notes to get rid of the clicks.
It´s so easy to flatten the vibratos that you can squeeze the life out of a performance without really noticing it. (That´s of course not a bad thing, to be able to do it, it´s only a bad thing if you do)
So I turned back to Auto-tune last week and a was pretty amazed by the sound quality. And the real-time option is wonderful.
But I´ve been told that Melodyne 3.0 is much better than the old one so I´m going to check that one out. And now they even have 3.1!
