adding a duplicate of the vocal panned hard right, and another dupe panned hard left, and pitch-shifting one + 7-10 cents and the opposite side - 7-10 cents is what he's talking about I think. Also delaying each one by like 15-20ms give or take seems to add to the effect as well IMO.
