The GR ME -1NV will be the vintage gear of tomorrow. I wouldn't see that as a waste of money. With time it'll eventually gain some value. I'd see it more as an investment. On the other hand, any Protools rig is an expense (If you don't make money out of it of course). You will have to upgrade at some point.
I ran my studio on a 002r for 7 years and finally took the plunge into a symphony system. After that i knew what resolution was about. Detail is a good word to describe it. Its almost like wearing correction glasses for the first time!
