What about using a SPDIF unit as the master clock? SPDIF is asyncronous, does this change your entire system over to an ASYNC clock or does using the wordclock connected to the spdif device allow you to use standard wordclock as the master for the entire system with the SPDIF unit as the master?
Im thinking of something like the mytek box.
