I am not much of a fanboy here for this particular microphone, although I own one and use it all the time... I have found only two useful applications for it in my own experience.

Hihat where it takes the high end but still has the transient response needed in this application.

Banjo, fiddle or mandolin high and above when you have a particularlly abrasive sounding instrument.

It lacks the signature 414 sound and flexibility. If I were AKG, I would have given the model another name.
